Which poster would you most like to race and in what event?

Who do you want to race? In what event? The race is on. I'm challenging Richjb to a 50 ***. I'll even challenge Terry to a 50 butterfrog.
  • Les- do not challenge Jim. Years ago I ripped the cover away from his identity...'Jim Borkowski' is just a veiled reference to his real name/title. His real name is 'The Bork' and he is a mostly-android machine intelligence sent to the earth's past to tip the scales against the future's Federation and the Starfleet. He is still recovering from his last battles with Captain Jean-Louis Picard and the crew of the Starship Enterprise, but when he finally mends he will set out on his ultimate mission: to subvert Earth's evolution into a starfaring civilization (thus weakening the Federation at a critical juncture) by promoting butterfly as a stroke that a rational human being would do (and as the future Federation would ban as a 'Tasteless remnant of barbarism') which would lead to a galactic boycott of Earth. Peter: Are you saying Jean-Luc Picard was a breaststroker? What's your favorite Star Trek episode?

  • Maybe Muppet will take you on. as far as racing Myuppet goes...well I just looked up his times and found out that his 100 fly time from 2006 SCY Nationals is a little faster than my best time since joining masters a couple of years ago....so maybe it would be a close race between us? His 100 IM time is also just a little faster than mine as well. I didn't see a lot of 200 fly times for him ...and I guess he didn't swim that one at SCY Nats in 2006....so I can't really say what would happen there....I went 2:06 something a couple of years back...probably couldn't break 3:00 minutes if I swam it today....or finish it legally. I sense a challenge coming on!!! Not much of a 200 flyer, but I have swum the 200 fly a few times as parts of bets... case in point, am doing it this weekend as part of the 200 fly, 400im, 500 free "animal" bet a few folks on my team are doing. Last swam 2 years ago, I think, and I think the PB was 2:17. With that event order and a recovering cold/sinus infection, I might be hitting that 3min mark. :dedhorse:
  • Boo for cold/sinus infections. Good luck this weekend on your animal swim!! Sounds absolutely awful. Do you have any "loser buy dinner" bets in place? AMEN! Just picked up my steroids to help clear out the ears. Got the left ear clear finally. As for the "loser buy dinner" bets, the animal swim is one of these. The fastest cumulative of these three events gets dinner bought by the others.
  • Are you going to SCY Nats in 2008? We can have our competition then. I still have to lose about 60 - 80 pounds of extra buoyant body tissue before I'll be ready to make any real challenges like that. It should be a close competition though in the 100 fly and 100 IM since you're time in the 100 fly from SCY Nats in 2006 is about 2 tenths of a second faster than my current PB as a masters swimmer...and your 100 IM time from that same meet is about 6 or 7 tenths of a second faster than my masters PB as well. I wish I lived closer to all of you guys so that I could go to some of your regular masters meets.....Its sounds like you guys are going to have a blast racing against one another.....I feel so left out now! Newmastersswimmer p.s. Good luck Muppet in your upcoming animal challenge! Jim, Barring any weddings (not my own) that may need to be attended, I am planning on it, yes! Re: my times, yeah, last year was a PB year for the Flys and IM at SCY Nats. 2005 nats was all PBs for the frees. But in the meantime, let me know what meets you're going to in NC and TN - I have been known to travel to NC to swim. Perhaps we can have a prelim in 07 and final in 08!
  • I hate when people plan weddings that conflict with swim meets ... uh, hello!!! I'd like to race my big sister, fort, in the 50 fly and free.
  • Sprinter Girl Since we both hate and despise breaststroke but still harbor this unatural desire to improve, let's race a 50. This will give us the incentive to work on it a bit more than we would otherwise. It will be ugly but so what.  Loser buys :drink:
  • Newmasterswimmer, You are so cute when you do your geek talk. You need to come up to MD for some open water races! You could get to meet Leonard and me! Swimmy :)
  • Les- Captain Kirk was a noted breastroker, but never swam . Then we might have made a good couple out there in a galaxy far, far away. ;) Good thing I like endless hyper-delusional sesquipadelian pontifications ... (Jim -- Mr. Purple Prose is my buddy despite his preferred stroke choice.) But you guys are quite the tendentious pair. I couldn't possibly keep up with your ubiquitous palavar and pillorying involving protean and lupine-like beings engaging in flagrant vigilantism in alternative virtual cosmic matrices. Just can't wait for LBJ to join in ... In one of his last posts, he called backstrokers "call girls." FlyQueen/Baby Sister: I think you should be racing some_girl. I believe, from her hipster ways, she's closer in age. But I'll take you on if you insist. Seems I'm going to be quite busy on the fly front. I think you should be taking on the "Bork" too. It's only fair. Poolraat: I must refuse your kind offer. Did you see my latest response on the "mystery of breaststroke" thread? Let's just :drink: and pray for an imminent FlyQueen dictatorship. Maybe the "Bork" can help speed up the accession. Alternatively, we could go to the Brendan Hansen/Allen Stark breaststroke clinic together.
  • Newmastersswimmer, Great to talk to you too. I saw LBJ at a race last summer in MD. I do have a polar bear plunge coming up next week. You should come! We do need to get our old thread going again. Ode to the geeks..... Swimmy :)
