Swim Rant

Today after the usual useless workout I have learned that most likely my team won't participate in an LCM meet in May because there is a stupid OW race on the same day. We train for the pool and then we don't go to meets for what? For an OW race? Are you kidding me? No seriously, we have the chance to try the races that we'll do at bigger meets later in the season, LCM meets are PURE GOLD but no, hey, let's go to the beach. Is there some reason you can't go to the meet even if the team doesn't?

Is there some reason you can't go to the meet even if the team doesn't? I don't know how it works, I'll have to ask. The fact is that I don't swim Masters, if it turns out that I can go on my own then younger kids will want to come with me and dump our coach, so most likely he won't let me go.

Ok, here's my rant. I was playing tennis with this guy (and winning) and he informed me that he was "pleasantly surprised" that I was "athletic" - he said he thought I was a girly girl. When I reminded him that I swim, kinda a lot (like about 4000 avg/day) AND that I train with the kids who go to Sr.Champs & Sectionals as stuff, he goes "yeah, but swimmers aren't really athletes. Athletes play with balls, i.e. footballs, baseballs, soccer balls." Moron.

Me: Hey can I split the lane with you? Him: :nono: So needless to say I was intrigued! I hopped in the lane with him and started swimming. He left a few minutes later so I didn't get to find out exactly what kind of :censor: I am for flagrantly ignoring his :nono:.

As a gentleman, I submit the honorable way to decide who gets the lane would be to challenge him to a duel. A duel in the pool of course.

People that use the wet or dry saunas at the gym and come out drenched in sweat; then jump in the pool. Freaking gross :bitching:

So were there any staff working there at all? You'd think someone should have noticed all of you swimming in the "closed" pool! Yes, they were around, but they didn't seem interested in walking on the wet pool deck. I don't think they really had a problem with adults being in there as long as no one used the flooding hot tub. That's my guess anyway; I made sure not to ask. :) Hope you get a swim in tomorrow :D Thanks!
