So i have been on a swim team for years when i was younger but now i'm 20 and i'm going to be lifeguarding all summer. So i wondered if you have any suggestions on swim suits. See i am very um...gifted on my topper portion and competition suits don't normally hold me in very well so i need help with that. And my hair is dry enough let alone being in the sun all day and chlorine so if you have any suggestions on good hair product that would be awesome!
  • Use a hat. It will also save your face from getting too much sun. That will be a blessing when you are my age.:)

Sabrina - no ideas about a suit but I can recommend an awesome shampoo - it's called Pureology and you can only get it at a salon or a beauty supply store or online. It's mainly for color-treated hair (which I don't have), but my hair is super dry and it's the only shampoo/conditioner that moisturizes my hair without leaving it feeling greasy. You an do a Google search by tying in "pureology" and you'll find the website. I use the shampoo in the purple bottle.

You might try the 2 pc suits, the Tyr has a lot of support. For hair I keep it short and put in heavy condiitoner before swimming.

You can use two suits for support. I have friends that wear a two piece under a racing suit and they say it works really well. For hair, conditioner is the best bet. I had some once that was made specifically for hair in the sun. I think it was made by Redkin. It worked really well. I heard once that hot oil treatments like once a week helped too. Happy Lifeguarding!
  • I'm surprised folks haven't requested a jpg to help "assess" the situation and provide you with proper advice. I usually have lot's of advice to offer but I'm out of my area of expertise. good luck a Originally posted by scyfreestyler When I first read the post I assumed it was from a guy so when I read about the "gifted..topper" I was cracking up!:D Just thought I would share. I agree with the other swimmers, condition, condition your hair. I also use shampoo to remove chlorine, otherwise I have green hair. I am also large on top, I really think TYR suit are built alittle better for this. I liked the idea of wearing a 2 piece suit under racing suit, gonna try it.

I grew up on the beach, out in the sun just about every day in spring, summer and fall. Like Dorthy said, Hats are a must for keeping your hair from sun damage. Good shampoos and conditioner for pool hair AND, don't forget SUNGLASSES... you don't want to squint all day. Make sure you get the kind that reduces glare. Don't you have to wear a guard's suit? I bet you can find some with a built in bra. Lainey

I always found that my cap slipped off if I put conditioner on before swimming. BUT I have found the miracle leave in conditioner -- Paul Mitchell "The Conditioner." Normally, I don't go for the expensive stuff, but this really works. It actually makes my hair feel better on the days that I swim than on the days I don't.

Phyto Products work well but there trendy and expensive. The oil is very good for hair if your in the sun and swim without a cap. Lifeguarding I would advise keep your skin in good shape with a high level sun screen you'll be glad of it in years to come, wear a big hat and cool shades. see the Swim Cap Guide for hair care and swimming www.geocities.com/.../scg.html the "Swimband" works great. cheap and easy to make I'm seeing more and more of them around the pool. Worn over and under swimcaps. www.geocities.com/.../swimband.html
