Perhaps there would be interest in a rotating blog--a different swimmer each week posting his or her workouts. This would provide some insight into what various individuals are doing across the country (or around the world for that matter).
  • Here was my lane's workout from this morning (lane 3, with 1 being the fastest) Coaches on deck: Matt Rankin (formerly of Phoenix Swim Club/Brophy East) and Bethany Larson 600-800 easy warmup A quick set with 2 of the following supposed to be FAST. We went right into the kick, and intervals varied, but we got about 45 to 60 sec rest (total of 1200 yds) I don't remember all of my times but included a few: 75 50 kick recovery (no board) 100 (came in on 1:08, about avg for me) 50 kick recovery (no board) 125 50 kick recovery (no board) 150 50 kick recovery (no board) 175 50 kick recovery (no board) 200 (came in on 2:18, which isn't bad for me, but was getting pushed by Camilla Johanssen doing back) 50 kick recovery (no board) 75 easy Then we did a kick set with no breaks (total 800 yds): 25 easy, 25 fast 50 easy, 50 fast 75 easy, 75 fast 100 easy, 100 fast 75 easy, 75 fast 50 easy, 50 fast 25 easy, 25 fast Lastly, we did 4x50 on 1:10 with an emphasis on the kick (200 yds). After that, I did a 200 warm down. Total I did was about 3,000 yds.

If you are sharing a lane in practice with only one other person (assuming same or similar ability) do you split or circle? I usually circle but that's just a force of habit.

Nice to hear from you again Kari.....I guess you've been busy with other stuff eh? The As the Swimming World Turns Thread eventually evolved into an NSR thread....the link to the NSR site can be found under the discussion thread titled "Training for a Meet With No Water" which was started by Seagurl (AKA Kyra)....the link is on the first page of the thread (which is now located near the top of page 2 of this board).....Nobody wants to leave messages there anymore so maybe you can liven the place up a bit with a suprise visit? circles.....I find that when you split you can't swim butterfly well when you are right niext to someone else at the start of each sendoff....also things can get crowded swimming just freestyle with some swimmers I swim with.....better to just stick with circles ......IMHO only of course!
