I need a way to let out some anger safely, and I figure doing it during my swim tomorrow is a good enoug way. Any suggestions?
(Background: I just got a new car two weeks ago - my first one - and today it was dented by some ******* in a parking lot. Two golfball sized dents and streaks of white paint. And I have to pay for the repairs myself. I'm so depressed and angry at the same time.....)

This was in 1974. Calculators weren't alowed in classes yet. I had the right answer but i got to it incorectly. So Mr. Cass didn't give to me full credit. I was so mad at Mr. Cass that day, I ended up in a fist fight with another guy.
As far as your car is concerned, see if there is an autobody school in the area. Check with any local community colleges and even high schools.
A lot of the time they'll happily do some very inexpensive work for the sake of getting practice.
And don't worry about the quality. It'll turn out just as good as any Auto body shop that'll charge a hand and a leg.

How can you afford a new car on a swimmer's salary? :)
BTW, your insurance should fix this. You will be responsible for the deductible, so if the job will cost more than your deductible, you should submit it to insurance. This should NOT affect your future insurance costs. You are not submitting an at-fault claim. If your insurance carrier wants to raise your rates because you submit this claim, consider a different carrier.
As for aggression in the pool, I'm sure we're all different.
I tend to take out my aggressions on a long, aerobic swim. The more I contemplate whatever issue is getting me mad, the harder I tend to push the pace. I have done some of my fastest 1000s while stewing about something.
I agree with Ande....
Scream underwater. Do it when there are a lot of people swimming so they don't know who it was making those noises!
I find the best time to do it is when you push off the wall... push that agression out through your feet... screamin' and streamlinin'... not bad, not too bad at all.
:D

It's worth noting that some insurance companies have requirements concerning notification of law enforcement if it was a hit and run in order for it to be treated as a not-at-fault accident (e.g., you have to notify the police within some period of time like 24 hours or 48 hours). The requirement may seem ridiculous, since you're basically going to be telling the police "Somebody dented my car. No, I have no idea what their license plate number was. No, I have no idea what kind of car they had. No, I know of no witnesses." But if the insurance company has this requirement and you don't call the police, it will be treated as an at-fault accident.

I feel your pain. I just got back from my Texas vacation a couple of days ago only to find out that some neighborhood kids had vandalized my Toyota Camry while we were gone on vacation in the mini-van.......They egged the car, scratched the sides of the car with nails or something similar.....and they smashed in the front windshield.....The windshield is still there.....but there is a giant spider web of cracks eminating from the point of contact that covers the majority of the (now dented in) windshield......I can barely see through a small part of the windshield on the drivers side.....but it looks like I am going to have to replace the windshield now. Oh well......At least they didn't slash my tires.
One thing that is particularly disturbing about all of this is the fact that Susan and I go out of our way to be as friendly towards our neighbors as possible.....including inviting all the neighborhood kids to play with our slip and slide whenever we are using it....things like that. I'm sure it was just some destructive teenagers who don't know any better (most of our neighbors are very friendly in fact).....But we have a lot of gangster wannabe types raoming the streets of our neighborhood.....They have even fired off guns across the street before .....the police came one time and found the spent shells on the ground out in the street just a little ways down from our house.....I guess it's time for us to move.....I hate moving!.....So much work involved.
So there's my venting session ......I guess I will have to think of those teenagers when I'm at workout to help motivate me......that and chanting my new mantra: "beat the raz....bury the horns" !....LOL!!

I have it on good authority (the French paper that is making the allegations against Lance Armstrong), that this was, in fact, done by supporters of the UT swim team.

I hope you meant "whenever our kids are using it". The way it was put originally presents an interesting image.

Well, you're always welcome to move to Elizabethtown. Of course, the neighbors fire guns here all the time, but it's usually to take down the roving gangs of groundhogs that terrorize us.

UT swimmers may get the hot chicks, but Mathletes 'get' calculus.
Very nice analytic breakdown of my previous posting Mr. Jansen......Very logical I must say.....as I would expect from a fellow mathlete!

"Beat the Raz....Kick his burnt orange Azz!!"
I was just watching the tennis players on TV what strange noises these girls make. Are they letting their aggressions get out of hand. Sharapova and Dementieva were really noisey.
It will be considered an "incident", don't claim unless it is well beyond the deduct #.
I had a car damaged by a hurricane, same car smashed while it was parked and I was a block away and was rear ended at different times during a year. They raised my rates because there were "too many incidents". None of these were my fault.
BTW- why is everyone assuming it was a male (him) that hit your car ? :)
Also agree that a good workout helps and there is nothing you can do to change what has happeneed in the past other than take precautions's salary? :)
