I saw someone post this picture in r.s.s. Apparently, the guy was upset that he wasn't let in a pool in Czechoslovakia where he was visiting (he's from the U.S.) Have you seen these kind of signs elsewhere? Not that I'm against them, I'm perfectly fine wearing the "approved" attire.

Mexico sounds good to me, see you there!
I have a friend, her name is Sheila. Every time I go to Mexico she says "have a Tequila for Shiela" and I do. I even have more than one.

I agree Scansy! I can get pretty charged up about politics too.....BUT I don't like debates or conflict....especially with my swimming buds. Note to self:STAY OUT OF POLITICAL DISCUSSIONS!:D

Soooo, on the original topic.... as an American, I had the funny feeling about speedos when I first started swimming. I wore the "shorts style" trunks to swim for about a year. I don't compete, so it wasn't an issue. Then, about a year and a half ago, I bought the "jammer style" suit. I couldn't believe the difference in my speed. I love them. When my current supply is worn out, I will buy a speedo style. I used to think they were weird. But no more.
Scansy, when I was in Australia (1956) I met a Japanese swimmer. I gave him a speedo and he gave me a pure silk pair of trunks. I only used them in races until they became thread bare. I don't know if they made me faster or not. I guess it was like someone who carries a baby blanket for years. They finally fell apart after 18 years.

I still don't get the criticism of Clinton's extra marital life. Ok, he's a scum bag, no doubt. But that is his personal life. He is and was an absolutely brillant politician. I am not critiquing him as a person but him as a political leader.
Truly we have had some brilliant politicians in the last quarter of the 20th Century but terrible presidents! Oddly, I think that maybe the only thing that might end up being note-worthy about the last quarter of the 20th Century was the first Bush's attempt to actually decrease the number of nuclear war heads.
As presidents go, I will agree that Clinton was a brilliant politician. But I do think he was an average president. Does that make sense????
Clinton was a better President than the first Bush. The jury is still out on the second Bush (he has a long way to go). Overall, I think he is going in the right direction, but there are a lot of things to be addressed in the second term. Social Security, Iraq/Iran/North Korea/etc./terrorism, the economy, immigration, etc.
Darn, I keep getting into the political side of this thread!
(Note to self - return to the original topic.)
OK, did I mention that I swam in black jammers yesterday? Um..... not in shorts..... Um, I did some breaststroke..... and some free..... (fight the urge to get into politics again...) um...... Tom, please help me. How do you deal with the voices?????
