Example time card online?/Using Hy-Tek for small masters meets

Does anyone know where one could find a sample time card that is viewable online? Either a scan of a time card or a pdf file or Word file or anything? I've filled out so many I should be able to remember all the various boxes, but I can't. Thanks for any pointers!
  • There's one on my team's website: www.sundevilmasters.org/ Under "Competition," click on, "Swim Meets," it is the 1st link on the page, "Consolidated entry card." Let me know if that doesn't work.

Thanks Tim, unfortunately that is not exactly what I was looking for, rather than a meet entry card I am looking for the cards that the timers fill in with your splits and final time. Most meets are computerized these days but in these parts at least small meets are sometimes still run with cards where you fill one out for each event, and they sort the cards to produce heats. The timers fill in the times as you swim and then a runner picks them up and someone produces results listings. Ah yes, the good old days live on. Our computer operator is now sounding like it may not be totally hopeless to get the age group meet program she uses to handle a meet where people in different age groups and different sexes do not swim in separate heats, so we may not have to go with cards after all. Still, I would like to get my hands on a sample card. Btw, I really like your team logo!

Linsey, Are you sure using Meet Manager is completely out of the question? I've used that software myself, and a not particularly up to date version at that. It had settings for Masters meets, and gave you the option of seeding by age group, or by time with all the age groups tossed together. If you have even minimal experience with using databases, setting up those options is duck soup. The real IT challenge is the interface between the touch pads, timing system and the computer. THAT I have never done, and I have the utmost respect for whatever computer guru you have than can manage that. Having said all that, I am somewhat at a loss to see how someone who could manage that part of it, would be unable to figure out the other options in Meet Manager. If your problem is that you have a DOS 1.ridiculous, bear-skins-and-stone-knives version of Meet Manager, it may be time to upgrade. It is not that expensive. Matt

Hi Matt, Using Meet Manager is definately not out of the question, and our version is up to date, or nearly so. We don't have electronic timing, we'll be hand timing. Unfortunately the computer operator has never done a masters meet before. Also unfortunately, I don't actually have access to a copy of Meet Manager to look at. And we live an hour away from one another. :( What we would like to do is have all swimmers of both genders and all ages swim together seeded by time, and then have the results come out separated by gender and age group. Edit: I just found the documentation for Meet Manager on the Hy-Tek web site and it looks to me like if we select masters as the meet class in the meet setup, and use mixed for the events instead of separate men's and women's events we should be all set.
  • Although I sent you a link to a sample of the timer's cards we use in our meet, it is not quite what you are looking for. Sorry. Look in the LMSC handbook records chapter (Administration section of the USMS web site) for a sample "relay entry card" - it may have a lot of the information you are looking for and could be modified for individual events.
  • Yes -- Hy-tek Meet Manager will handle masters meets quite nicely. It handles all of the scoring by age group and by gender automatically. So you can setup every event as mixed, and put everyone in, and it can either seed by time, or using the masters by-age-group-then-by-time algorithm where it tries to keep age groups together. (For a small masters meet, there's no reason you'd need that.) If you seed in Hy-Tek, and generate heat sheets, you can also generate timer sheets, which list just the swimmers in one particular lane for timers to write times on for an event. The new version of Meet Manager (2.0, which should be released tomorrow I believe) allows manual time entry by lane instead of by heat I believe. (I've been alpha and beta testing this version for a couple of months, and it looks great! I just finished up a masters meet with 768 swimmers and 4500 event entries using the new version.) -Rick
