i'll either listen to "rabbit run" by eminem (from the 8 mile soundtrack) or to "now is the time" by dope (it was the theme song for the 2004 NHL playoffs).
basically my rule is, the harder and louder, the better!
:D
Since I am a songwriter
eventually
I'd like to write a song to inspire me to kick butt and swim fast
Though there's lots of songs that elevate my mood and make me wanna get after it.
I mentioned "All Fired Up" by Pat Benetar in
I've always liked the theme song to
"Chariots of Fire" by Vangelis
there's lots of songs like
"lose yourself" by eminem and I'm not much into rap.

PS Hey guys let's post INPIRING LYRICS in this thread too
i've always liked part of the lyric to "Wasted on the Way" by Crosby Stills and Nash
Look around you now
you must go for what you wanted
I look at all me friends who did
and got what they deserved
I also really love the feel of "I'm the Only One"
by Melissa Etheridge
I find the lyrics to "I Hope You Dance" very inspiring.
I think it's great when a song grabs me emotionally and moves me to a totally unexpected place.

When I was swimming in high school (about a million years ago) we used to do a little psych out trick when the opposing team would walk out on deck - we would do push ups to "We Are The Champions" by Queen, counting, ".....98, 99, 100!!!"
So to me, that song still rocks.

"I Like the Way You Move" by Outkast
"Clocks" by Coldplay
"Purple Haze" by Jimmie Hendrix
Those are the songs that they played for each of the swimmers at the Swim with the Stars, so listening to them makes me think about that experience and watching those guys swim. Then it helps me to think about how to make myself do that.
But aside from those, yea, the harder the better. "I hate everything" by Three Days Grace and "Stupid Girl" by Cold...to name a few.
Before my first meet about a month ago, I made a CD special of all the songs that get my blood going and yet strangely calm me down. Now it's my favorite CD!!!
~Kyra
p.s. And I must also admit...Britney Spears is my guilty pleasure..."My Perogotive (sp)" mysteriously found it's way onto my last CD. Don't worry Heather, you're not alone!!:D
