OK so maybe it was an Evil Knievel’ish leap from boxers to flippers and from Hall’s Rocky IV robe to Ivan Drago’s (Dolph Lungren) performance enhanced body. And maybe it would take Pablo Picasso, during his Synthetic Cubist phase, to connect the dots.
But rules is rules. Gary knew them and decided to go his own way. He’s a big boy and should be willing to abide by any consequences of his actions. And to paraphrase Dennis Rodman “I understand the rules, just tell me who to make the check out to when I bust’em”
And who knows, maybe his outfit gave him the edge he needed to repeat as the world’s fastest Olympic swimmers. A truly amazing feat!
First of all, Carmelo Anthony is not one of the better players on the USA hoops team. He is a 20 year old in his first international tournament. He was the NBA runner up rookie of the year.
Secondly, who gives a monkey's behind what Hall, Jr was wearing. Is that all we have to worry with? Maybe instead of worrying with his garb we should praise the work he's done for diabetes education.
My wife thinks he's "hot" also. Now I know why she enjoyed the races so much.
Gary is a business man as well as an athlete. He knew exactly what he was doing with that Everlast robe on. It's called product endorsement, even if it was done in a subtle manner. His circus act is the perfect venue to gather attention.
It's a safe bet that the Everlast people chuckled at the thought of a mere $5,000 fine for a world wide advertisement. If you really think about it, an average commercial spot during the Super Bowl is in the million dollar range. This had to of been a very unique opportunity to shill their stuff. Just another perspective on what he may have been up to.
Wow, even if we could move the Golden Gate Bridge near your post regarding why don’t we let him use flippers and performance enhancing drugs….we couldn’t bridge that gap. Talk about a long leap from TEAM to outer space. Errr….Houston we have a problem…! Gosh, Michael Angelo couldn’t connect those dots…..
In all seriousness….after reading these posts I am no longer convinced my initial stance is right. You have made some good points on who paid for getting him there and for the point that no one heard him make an issue out of signing onto the TEAM in the first place.
Aw heck, I’ll go ahead and admit it…I was wrong….
