Diving with goggles

I'm probably just as blind as you are in the water. (I use prescription goggles for lap swimming. The strongest available off-the-shelf, non-custom goggles get me about half my vision back as compared to my glasses.) But I have never considered using goggles for diving. I'm too afraid they'll injure my eyes or sockets or something. Besides, (at least at every pool I've ever dived at), they don't allow a diver to go until the previous diver has cleared the area to the ladder. I'm not worried about running into other swimmers when I dive because I trust that there aren't any in there when I go. (And if there is one, whether I can see him or not won't matter when I land on him!) And even with my poor eyesight, I can still see color and blobs of shapes to know that something or someone is coming up. I have complete empathy for your underwater vision issues, but my advice is to ditch the idea of diving with goggles.

I'm no expert on this, but have done it when I was a kid. My suggestion - don't. It hurts. I imagine an injury could happen. Question for you - why would you dive from a 3 meter platform with goggles? (other than being a kid just playing around a pool and not wanting to take goggles off)

This reason is that when I swim underwater I can not see anyone else or where I am going - it is a total blurr without goggles.

We were told as swim coaches not to allow goggles to be worn for high dives, due to the danger of eye injury. I have not looked into the research to support this but we have no high diving boards within an hours drive form here, so it is not of much relevance for my swimmers.

3m boards are about 10 feet off the water Yes that could be bad. Not that the goggles would break they all probably would not but that they would be snatched quick from the face and a portion of the seal could strike the eye. If you held your hand over your face theat would be different but I would still not advise it. US Armed Forces "rescue swimmers"..several branches have these brave people do leap from helicopters into the sea with swim masks from 15-20 feet maybe more when the helo catches wind and rises some more. ..They hold them down with the hands.
