Hello All,
I'm new to this board. Actually, just new to posting. I've been entertained by your comments for quite a while now.
I've been swimming for a few years (I'm 29), and I absolutely love it. Unfortunately, I really struggle with speed. I really relate to all the posts regarding being 'slow'. But I keep trying the suggestions I get from you all. So thank you.
Anyhow, my question. I have such a hard time with goggles. Either they're too tight and give me a headache. Or they're too loose and water trickles in. Agghh!!! I've tried different brands, different styles.... I'm just wondering if there is some trick to getting the perfect seal.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure your swimcap (if you're wearing one) is not stuck under the goggles, that's a leak in the making right there.
Sometimes it's tricky finding goggles that fit your face.

Rule number 1) Cap must ALWAYS goes over straps.

I have found that in determining which goggles work, it comes down to the bridge size of my nose. If the nose piece of the goggles is too wide they leak, too narrow they leak... swedish goggles are great because it's a string for the adjustment instead of a piece of plastic with only a couple of settings.
Do you dive with goggles? Not that it matters, but some people think it's the goggles that come off, when it's actually the dive itself that causes them to come off.
Could definitely be a 'bridge' thing. It feels like that is where I get the separation.
And I don't do any diving. That would probably pull them off my face alone. At this point, just pushing off too forcefully can cause a leak.
I like the GCGs too. They are comfortable and I really like the silicone strap better than the traditional rubber. The rubber straps always break down after a few months.
Add me to the camp that never liked the Swede goggles.
Try TUSA Spyder goggles. They are fashioned after the Swedes but have a thin silicone gasket. They are almost indestructable as I can usually get a year's wear out of a single pair. Much better than any other goggle I've ever tried. Can be purchased via swimx.com. Do have an adjustable nose piece.
Speedo also makes female vanquishers that fit really well on me. I used a Nike goggle at my last meet and really lie it as well. It is very similar to the vanquisher.
I have to admit those darn vanquishers don't fit me at all and I'm fairly average in features, slightly uglier than most, however.
I really wanted the vanquishers to work for me but they leaked something awful.
I'm a fan of TYR Racetech.
I said it once, and I'll say it again... The best goggles in the world are either Speedo's GCGs or Vanquishers. The GCG 's have a thin neoprene seal, where the Vanquishers have silicone gaskets. Both include adjustable nose pieces, which solve the nose bridge concerns.
On a side note, tighter goggle straps don't necessarily mean a tighter seal. Also, I would agree with wearing your goggles underneath your cap if you're diving. Otherwise, in my opinion, it doesn't matter how you wear them.
