Goggle Woes

Hello All, I'm new to this board. Actually, just new to posting. I've been entertained by your comments for quite a while now. I've been swimming for a few years (I'm 29), and I absolutely love it. Unfortunately, I really struggle with speed. I really relate to all the posts regarding being 'slow'. But I keep trying the suggestions I get from you all. So thank you. Anyhow, my question. I have such a hard time with goggles. Either they're too tight and give me a headache. Or they're too loose and water trickles in. Agghh!!! I've tried different brands, different styles.... I'm just wondering if there is some trick to getting the perfect seal. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Kadster

i had been using a tyr pair for a long time...they have silicone type of seal (can't remember the name of them) but they are excellent. the only problem is that they fit so well I have signifigant rings (which equates to damage of the skin--yikes!) so I bought a pair of speedo super seal for women. they sem neat. have a sticky seal pad and things, but really these things have been a huge disapointment. it looks like i either go back to the tyr and risk skin damage, or make the leap to barracudas. it's worth the 30 bucks if the goggles work, and don't damage the delicate eye skin. we'll see--i just hate to trade good skin for a great goggle fit.
  • My problem was fogging and a dark enough color to wear outdoors during the summer and for backstroke, but not too dark that I couldn't see. I found the best of both worlds and it also solved a long-standing problem of the nose piece digging into my nose (I have close set eyes)....The View goggles. The eye piece isn't soft and cuishy, but it fits my eyes very well. The orange or yellow color is quite soothing in an outside. I've even noticed a lot of teammates sporting these goggles. P.S. I agree with the keeping the strap loose and adjusting the nose piece.

There is a even a beer commercial that proves it (I think for Miller) - the announcer says "The High Life man knows that if the Pharohs had duct tape the pyramids would be standing." (Or was it the leaning tower of Pisa wouldn't be leaning or Stonehenge would be all together....) Anyway, duct tape fixes everything!:)
