Cinc, come on now, I said "most parts" not Texas. I actually lived in San Deigo. What an awesome town. Roberto's have some great carne asada burritos, just perfect for a post surf grind.

Hey, back home French Fries are often served with mayo.
Talk about grease on grease. Probably three-milion-calories per serving ;)
I've been doing this so long I fear what would happen if I missed it on New Year's Day.
In my family, we do pork roast in saurkraut every New Year's Day for good luck. It's a good thing that is the only time we do it - it takes a year for the smell to leave the house!:)
Yesterday being New Year's Day I was able to make and eat my favorites - collards (for money), black eyed peas (for luck) and tons of cornbread. I've been doing this so long I fear what would happen if I missed it on New Year's Day.
Lest The Bug think I'm a poseur, I did actually chop the greens myself and cook them in hocks.
Noraml:
-hamburgers smothered in Hellman's mayo, pickles and onions (TGI Fridays does a REALLY great burger)
-manicotti with moz., ricotta, cottage cheese, spinach, chopped sauteed mushrooms and marinara
-pizza, extra cheese, black olives, mushrooms, or pepperoni and onions (LaRosas, or Mios in Cincinnati to die for)
-clam dip (chopped clams, sour cream, drop of worsteshire, garlic and onion powder, sea salt, ground black pepper), with kettle chips
-guiness beer, out of a really good tap
-reuben sandwich with juilenne fries (dipped in thousand island of course)
Abnormal:
-pickles and mayo sandwich--rye bread
-rolled up piece of colby slathered with mayo

okay, you all are making me hungry! I use to be a pretty picky eater in my younger days then I was lucky enough to be able to live in several different parts of the world. LOL I had to eat local fare or go hungry. Surprise! Most of it was wonderful! But, I'm still a southern girl at heart and one of my favorite menu is a fresh veggie dinner (that's what we call lunch in the south) It would consist of: field peas, fried okra (sliced very thin and breaded in white cornmeal, not the horrible fried okra you get in most restruants) stewed white field corn (not the yucky yellow cream corn from a can. Cream corn and stewed corn are two different things), pinto beans, copper penny carrots, cole slaw, fresh sliced tomatos, cornbread w/butter (made with white cornmeal and NO sugar), sweet ice tea and pecan pie. (If pecan pie isn't available turtle cheese cake will do even though it isn't typically southern)
Having lived on the coast I also love shrimp and oysters. There isn't anything like a low country boil on the beach with a pit of coals covered with a piece of tin for roasting oysters on the side. Top that meal off with icy cold beer.
I think I've gained a couple of pounds reading this thread so I'm off to the pool.
