I pay 2.40 english pounds per swim(about 4$)plus petrol to get there(2.5 english miles)all this adds up to about 10 pounds....about $15 per week..not too much but all adds up over the years
  • Divided by a weekly fee, just the coaching is $54.50 a week. This gets me in to the pool before it opens to the public and an hour and 20 min practice on weekdays and 2 hours on Sat. We take a 6 week break during the summer and do about 90 min of dryland instead. If I want to swim on my own, it's $8 per entrance. OMGoodness - what part of the country do you live in? We don't have a masters team per se in Tallahassee, so to train with an actual team, we (I) are forced to swim with the USAS team - and that is $65/mo for up to 11 practices a week if I am so inclined. Entry to our pools is $3.50 a shot, unless you get an "annual pass" and then it averages out to $22/mo and entrance is unlimited, and includes all city pools.

It's a flat fee for the school year and additional for the long course season. We only get about 2 weeks off from swimming and/or dry land a year. That gets me 4 morning practices and Sat practice. There are afternoon practices but I have a little one so I can't go to them. Without kids, I could go to 12 practices a week. This team is worth every penny. Oh and this is in the DC area and with one of the highest ranking teams in the country. The facility we practice in the mornings is a joint public/private one. That one I can go in on my own if I wish ($8 per visit or $400+ a year).
  • I work where I swim. So I get full benefits. The pay for lifeguarding may not be much, but I get full benefits. And I get a tad more when I teach.

I pay about $350 a year for my club. It has a decent weight room, good cardio stuff, and the facilities are just OK.... but the pool itself is worth the fee. It is a nice 8 lane 25 yd. pool. But the best part about it is there is also a heated therapy pool in there for all of the noodlers to enjoy. Most times I am the only one in the lap pool, every once in a while there will be several others, but I have never had to share a lane - even when age group swimming is practicing - there is 2-3 open lanes. I coach a team a highschool team and we have free practice in an old university pool (33 yds.) - It is 20 miles in the opposite direction as work, so instead of wasting gas driving home and back - I go there an hour early and get in a couple thousand yards. I also coach a summer youth team at a country club, and they give me free pool membership - however it there is no lap swimming going on there, but I do take my twins there often for some swims.
