Gopro swimming pool mount

Found a youtube video on attaching a gopro mount onto a glass/ceramics panel suction cup holder. Seemed ideal for setting my gopro in the pool to take video for technique analysis. However, I've found contradictory information on the net about whether the suction cup will work underwater, especially on uneven tiled surfaces. Anyone with experience? Thanks.
  • Yeah, that's been my problem, getting it set in place for vids. I have a Panasonic Lumix water-submersible camera, but I can only film others while holding it myself. I'd like to mount it somewhere so I could film myself some time.
  • No experience ...but a suggestion. It doesn't need to be stuck to the side/bottom of the pool. Stick the suction cup to a plastic plate...or some other unbreakable smooth flat thing that the cup will stick to. Set it on the bottm of your lane and hold it down with a weight...a clean brick, rock, 10 lbs barbell weight, etc. Seems to me something like that would work. Dan
  • You can also get one of those tripod mounts that are like bendy straws and attach it to a brick
  • I've done a bit more internet research and it seems that the suction cup needs to be attached onto a relatively dry surface so it doesn't seem that it would work directly onto the bottom or sides of an already filled pool. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll google the bendy straw tripod mount (don't think I've ever seen one).
