Hey any help is appreciated. I currently go a 1:12:52 in my 100 *** and am trying to make make state cut which is about a 1:04. There's only 5 weeks left before sectionals and I was wondering first of all if you think if this is possible and second of all if it is what suggestions would you have to drop time. Thanks!
  • Not seeing your stroke(you could post a video) nor knowing your workouts,I can't say what is possible. Will you be shaved and tapered for sectionals? That will make a big difference. Generic suggestions: really work on streamlining at the end of each stroke and on the turns. Work each turn perfectly,be crisp off the wall,be long on the glide and pull down and be smooth on the breakout. If you can decrease your stroke count while maintaining your speed you will have more left for the last 25.

It is a big drop, but it really does depend on so many things. I think that 5 weeks is also a short time frame. Variables that you could work on include: Rest & taper - not sure where you are in your training, but this can be worth a few seconds alone Starts and turns - most people I know could gain a lot here - really work on them every time (as per Allen's instructions) Power - This is longer-term thing Technique - streamlining on each stroke will also help to counter any timing issues that you may have. I saw a good video that you might find that is based on treating each stroke as it is the last one in the length (as if you were reaching for the wall) Speed - you can do some work here - developing your basic speed with short duration sprints (i.e.
  • Hi I assume you're male. to give you a good answer we need more details about you and your training. "Is it possible to drop your 100 BR time from 1:12.52 to 1:04 in 5 weeks?" Maybe but honestly probably not. 1:12.52 to 1:04 a huge drop. The fastest way to drop time is to improve your technique. You get faster to the magnitude of the errors you correct. The technique you improve. Starts, Streamline, Dolphin kick, Pull outs, Breastroke swimming technique, the pull, the kick and timing of it all. TURNS and Touch. Improving technique is HARD. YOU must 1) identify what needs fixed, then 2) create replacement habits then 3) do your replacement habits every time in practice until they stick, by concentrating and doing it correctly, BUT if you quit focusing you'll immediately slip back into your old habits. The 2nd fastest way to drop time is to improve your vessel. Shave, wear a new tech suit jammer, wear a cap, The 3rd fastest way to drop time is to do speed work and taper. The 4th fastest way to drop time is to get stronger. To go 1:04 in the 100 ***, you MUST be able to break 30 seconds in a 50 *** and 13.7 seconds in a 25 *** stroke. what are your 25 & 50 times now?
