  • If you think anti-doping measures are ineffective, that's fine. But you shouldn't just accuse someone of cheating automatically just because they did well. I stopped putting my head in the sand with athletes about a decade ago. Her performances and physique and mystical and mysterious training routines lend themselves to great scrutiny.

Explain. Indeed. If excellent performances are proof of doping, I give you Ledecky for the US, Peaty for GBR. We can't just tar 'foreign' athletes with this brush...
  • Le Clos loses to Cheh www.omegatiming.com/.../Download At least we know Missy isn't doping ... Her starts and turns are a crime .. what was she doing for two years at Cal?! ... they've gotten even worse ... I hope Le Clos loses the 200 fly to Cseh bc of his bizarre habit of repeatedly turning his head to look at competitors. What can one say about the poor US showing that swimswam commentators haven't already said?

  • The BBC commentators said she was doing USRPT.... Well, then, I stand corrected. USRPT explains it all, the physical changes, the endless series of exceptional GP swims in rapid succession, and the secrecy.
  • Ladecky's killin' it! Sets a WR in the 1500 final, half a pool length ahead of 2nd place, then 20 minute later goes and qualifies for the 200 final, only 1/2 second behind the top qualifier. She actually was the fastest on the back 150, but was out a little slow on the first 50 and qualified 6th. Imagine what she's gonna do tomorrow in the final when she's rested!
  • Then what about Phelps? Lochte? Michael Andrew? They must all be doping too, right? I mean, eight golds? Gold in the same event at three Games in a row, twice? Swimming fast at 30? Breaking all the NAGs? What about Grevers and Bernard? Who can get that big without drugs, amirite? There are a few masters swimmers we could ask the same questions about, too. I think your head is still firmly in the sand. People change, grow, get better and faster. They surprise us. Yes, sometimes they dope. But sometimes they don't. These swimmers, drugs or no, are working their asses off. And they deserve the benefit of the doubt.

  • USA Women win the 4 X 200 free relay. But Sarah Sjostrom led off the Swedish team with a time that would have won the open 200 Free by almost a second.
  • Just saw on SwimSwam that it is controversial that Lochte was on his back for most of the underwater part of his SDK off the turn to start the freestyle leg and could have been DQd.Why??? It is freestyle!! That means any stroke. I know it has to be a different stroke than the first 3 strokes, but he wasn't swimming backstroke,he was swimming SDK.
