All you need to do is swim in our pool and the hair removal will be done for you, pain-free! :agree: Just make sure to wear a cap, if you plan on keeping the hair on your head. :afraid:
This past week, tapering for St. Nick's, I swam exclusively at our pool, rather than commuting an hour roundtrip to train with my coach. And, during this past week, I lost all of the hair on my arms, half of my eyebrow hair (some broke off, other hairs turned white at the tips:censor:), and the hair in front of my ears that sticks out of my cap turned brown with white ends. (I have black hair, normally!) My Speedo Endurance has held up :bow:, but the stitching is starting to come out. Meanwhile, I have watched one of the noodler's suit turn from navy blue to light gray.
Needless to say, our chlorine and other chemical levels have gone way out of wack while our maintenance guy has been :bed:. But, the pool maintenance company guys heard allll about it, when I saw them today. :D
So, while they are trying to correct the problem, come on down to Georgia for the easiest hair removal ever! And, don't worry about clogging the drains, Wookiee; it will give our maintenance guy something to do. :bolt:

Had a similar problem last year at one of the pools at which I swim. Turns out it was a few issues:
pool needed a good backwash of the pool water
high alkaline content
old water pipes contributing to the alkaline issue
The pool water had a funny taste. I took a sample of the pool water to another pool who tested it for me, which is how I found out about the alkaline content. My swim suit changed from a solid black to a pretty cool silvery grey.
We had that happen once at my college pool. Lost all hair on arms and legs including eyebrows. Pool maintenance said nothing is wrong so we took a water sample to get analyzed at the pool supply store.
Chemicals were way out of balance and we all had chemical burn. The department of health shut down the pool for 1 week.

Thank you VERY much for mentioning this, because it motivated me to do the same. After speaking with the pool maintenance company and HOA on Monday, I expected something to be done immediately to solve the problem. Instead, it has gotten worse. :afraid: So, I took a sample right over to our local pool supply store to be tested. It turns out that it wasn't the chlorine level causing the bad odor and taste; it was everything else that was way off! The chorline was actually at a normal 2.0. But, these were the levels that were off:
ph 7.0 (should be 7.4-7.6)
Alkalinity 0 ppm (!!!) (should be 100-150) :bitching:
Cyanuric Acid 10 ppm (should be 30-50) :bouncing:
Phosphate 1000 ppb (should be 1-32) :censor:
What the *&%$??? Not only was our staff maintenance guy not doing his job correctly; the pool maintenance company who maintains our pool on Mondays and Thursdays don't know what the :censor: they are doing! I was told by the gal who tested the water that in order for the alkalinity to be at 0, this has been going on for a long time, like, probably a couple of months! I know things have seemed off to me for at least the past few weeks.
Needless to say, I gave our HOA a copy of the report and recommended they immediately shut down the pool and get this resolved. Our pool needs 147 pounds of baking soda, 19 pounds of cyanuric acid, and 1-1/2+qts. of phosphate to get it back in balance. And, it will take a few days. So, I guess I will be going elsewhere to swim... :badday: Meanwhile, I don't even want to think about else this has done to my body, besides hair loss. :eek:

Add 100 dozen eggs, 11,000 lbs of flour, 750 lbs of powdered milk, turn the heat way up before you leave for 6-8 hours, bring forks, plates, large candles in the morning :cake:. You'll be able to celbrate an entire year's worth of HOA birthdays at once.:D
Hopefully nothing more than hair-loss results, but a little to close to the edge i think.
Im glad my story gave you the idea having a sample analyzed. Its shocking how little some pool maintenance people know about everything else but chlorine!!
If it doesnt get better, please call the Department of Health. Its a drastic step but at least you know then something will happen.

Meanwhile, the pool maintenance company that maintains our pool came back out yesterday to "test" the water. And, they said it was "fine". :shakeshead: So, the HOA took their word for it and left the pool open. Not only was the smell quite evident, I splashed some water in my mouth and it was OBVIOUSLY bad. Needless to say, I drove out to Steve Lundquist Aquatic Center and swam there instead. After swimming there for over two hours, the water still tasted just fine and my mouth did not burn. So, I returned to our pool on the way home and did the taste test again. :eek:
During that time, our HOA director phoned the Pulte Homes person in charge of our property to ask what she should do and he said to leave the pool open. In other words, they are completely trusting the pool company, because they say everything is "fine" and disregarding the test I had done AND the physical evidence supporting my claim. I recommended they shut the pool down until they can have the water tested by a third party, but won't happen until after holidays- if at all. So, it has left me with no other choice...
