Does anybody know when the All Star from 2011 are going to be posted?
  • Does anybody know when the All Star from 2011 are going to be posted? Probably sometime in early April. it can't happen until the SCM 2011 Top Ten lists are finalized.
  • The 2011 All American listing has been published. www.usms.org/.../owldaa Congrats Wookiee! Great job! Does this mean that I have to write a retraction for Swimmer? I was just wondering the exact same thing two posts ago! :chug:
  • Kurt Dickson was the undisputed king of the postal in my age group (40-44). He won every single postal swim...and also threw in the one mile OW for good measure!
  • The 2011 All American listing has been published. www.usms.org/.../owldaa From first glance, it looks like the list for females is incorrect for the 6000 yd postal results relative to the age groups above and including 30-34. For example, Denise Brown (52) is listed as the Women's 55-59 champ but should be listed as the Women's 50-54 champ. Any suggestions as to whom to notify? Also, I am unable to use the "searchable database for All-Americans" for 2011 results. There is no error - just a response saying "No individual All American listings were found using your search criteria" (I asked for women, long distance, 2011). Anyone else having this trouble?

Congrats Wookiee! Great job! I was just wondering the exact same thing two posts ago! :chug: Thanks That Guy!
  • I though the All Star point system was based on Open water events and Postals. There are two types of All-Stars: Long-Distance (which I now see is what you were asking about) and Pool (which is what I was talking about). I don't know anything about the LD All-Stars. I see that last year they were announced on January 24 so they appear to be late this year. I always get confused about the division of labor between the two LD/OW committees so I don't know which committee tallies the points: either Long Distance (LongDistance@usms.org, chaired by Donn Livoni) or Open Water (OpenWater@usms.org, chaired by Lynn Hazlewood).
  • I though the All Star point system was based on Open water events and Postals. You are correct for the criteria for the Long Distance All Stars. This should be getting done very soon because the last events in the process for determining this was the 3000 and 6000 Postal National Championship Swims which were completed over 3 months ago. The Pool All Star are determined by the swimmer who has the most #1 Swims in there age group. If there is a tie, then its based on who has the most swims in the National Top Ten. USMS National Records and FINA World Records have nothing to do with the selection of the All Stars. A question was asked of me today as to why the 2011 USMS SCM Final Top Ten is not out right now since last year it was a lot earlier. I wasn't sure if this was a true statement so I checked and actually the FINA World Top Ten was published on March 11, 2010 and I have provided a link of that discussion from last year. 2010 FINA Masters Rankings - U.S. Masters Swimming Discussion Forums
  • A question was asked of me today as to why the 2011 USMS SCM Final Top Ten is not out right now since last year it was a lot earlier. Not true, last year it was out on March 24. Timeline for TT publication can be seen here: www.usms.org/.../pubschedule.php The preliminary SCM11 list came out Feb 10 and there was a deadline of Feb 27 to submit corrections. Then the corrections have to be incorporated (I'm sure Mary Beth does this as they come in) and the lists have to be formatted properly for people who want to print out or order nice copies.
  • The 2011 All American listing has been published. www.usms.org/.../owldaa Congrats on the AA status! So you're okay with OW now, I guess...
