Very cool! I'm sure he'll be fast. I hope Lance joins USMS. Beating Lance Armstrong head-to-head or even in the Top Ten rankings would be serious motivation!
Kirk, I hope it comes to USMS meets as well ... but don't count on beating him. I heard his workout times when he dropped in with my daughter's team in Scottsdale last year. I suspect his 4:59.99 entry time will look like a sandbag time once he's finished (or if he comes to a meet and rests to race fast). Given his awesome athleticism, incredible aerobic conditioning and solid strokes, I think he'd put up a scary 1650, as well.

I remember your blog entry about this and I agree completely! Still it certainly gives a goal to shoot for.
I remember seeing Lance Armstrong on Eurosport after one of those really gruelling and inhuman Alp climbs in the Tour de France. He was still sitting on his bike, a little winded but totally cogent while doing an interview - in perfect French!
Not that a 5:08 is shabby, but I expected him to be a little faster. Maybe he's mortal after all!
21 Armstrong, Lance E 40 UN-ST 4:59.99 5:08.11
27.62 57.50 (29.88)
1:27.89 (30.39) 1:58.72 (30.83)
2:29.94 (31.22) 3:01.26 (31.32)
3:32.93 (31.67) 4:04.81 (31.88)
4:36.64 (31.83) 5:08.11 (31.47)
I guess the last half felt like a steep hill climb for him. :)

Looks just like the way I split it (if I don't die from go out too fast). :D
This was perhaps a more impressive result:

The two guys who beat him are Pro Triathletes (Bonney was an HM AA at Texas in the 1650)
