I, for one, don't care what my lifesaver is wearing, as long as s/he can save my life!
That said, society seems kind of odd that men (good looking or otherwise) should not wear speedos after a certain age, but good looking women should hang out in as much flesh as possible for as long as possible.

There's really not a double standard in this regard. I don't think most people want to see men or women in revealing swimwear beyond a certain age. I do think there's a double standard in this country that it's OK for young women to wear bikinis as beachwear, but not OK for men to wear budgie smugglers. I wouldn't wear Speedo briefs to the beach, either, but it is a double standard.
these suit bans are getting crazier, as is the lifeguard's position that no one over 50 should wear a Speedo

I kind of side with the county. They certainly have the right to insist that you wear the uniform. And "trunks" do slow you down. Still, couldn't a compromise have been met?

Jones Beach lifeguards don't actually wear Speedos. It's more like a training suit.

And there are plenty of guards his age who wear the uniform. Bogus lawsuits are just dumb.
Hey, the way I see it is if you are fit enough to look good in a Speedo, it doesn't matter how old you are. I have seen young overweight guys in Speedos that had no business wearing them ( :afraid: ), as well as "old" guys who look amazing in a Speedo. :applaud: 50 is just a number. There were plenty of Masters swimmers well over 50 years old at Spring and Summer Nationals who would have looked just fine in a Speedo, rather than a Jammer! :D

As I’ve said before if this guy is that worried about modesty, jammers are in fact more “revealing” (-IE- that lump) than conventional speedo briefs. But I do agree that they may not suitable (no pun intended) for older, heavy set guys.
The taboo toward speedos (AKA Speedophobia) seems to resemble the “Gun Control” philosophy in the sense that because some older Joe Beerbellys (and a few exhibitionists) wear them means that all guys should be forbidden from doing so.
However this idea has now de-evolved into the realm of absurdity and needs to go away ASAP. :agree:
