The preliminary Top 10 listings for the 2011 short-course yards season, which ran 6/1/10 - 5/31/11, are now available. Please check for inaccuracies and email Mary Beth Windrath, the National Swims Administrator, with potential corrections BY JULY 30. You can also email me or send me a PM.
I think I just heard Ande cracking his knuckles.
Ha. Ande admits to not liking the 200 back. :)
But yes he'd probably be well under 2 minutes if he wanted to. Sorry Ande!
Not sure about the men, but I can certainly speak for most of the women in and near my age group; suits have less to do with top ten results; the main point is who shows up!
And that's not always easy!!!
At any one point in time, there are a few that are racing alot and racing fast; many that range from dabbling to strong swims, many that don't go to nationals, and even more that for whatever reason, just don't show up that year. But the 10 that make it are always a fast bunch!
It is always a thrill to make top ten, so congratulations to everyone who made top ten in 2011 SCY!

There's many great former swimmers retired from swimming, some have done masters & most haven't.
These folks could train for 1, 2, 3, 4 or 6 months and swim remarkably well.
All they need is a reason and a nudge.
When Nats were at UT in 2008 many former UT swimmers entered the meet.
Most hadn't swum in a masters meet before or since.
Bet Auburn had an influx of War Eagles
Wonder if 2012 LCM Nats in Omaha will have a similar effect?
Same in the 45-49 group. But the suit ban wasn't entirely a negative for some.
Looks like there's a new 200 back rival for Chris. Where did he come from?
Rich E Saeger 47 UNAT Southern Pacific 1:53.97
Rich is one of those really great swimmers who doesn't do many masters meets but he is fast and seems to stay very fit. Rich won a gold medal at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California. He swam in the prelims for the US 4×200 free relay, which won in the finals, with Bruce Hayes remarkable 2nd 100 vs Michael Gross.
here's his results as a master.
He went 1:55.0 in the 200 LCM fr in 2006 at worlds.

they got the guns but you got the numbers?
I thought we said Auburn. TSC is another story. But ya gotta hate the Trojans (as a Golden Bear)...
I noticed the times this year are markedly slower in my age group (40-44). Presumably the new suit rules had something to do with it. Based on the preliminary results for 2011, here's a comparisonSame in the 45-49 group. But the suit ban wasn't entirely a negative for some.
