So I'm having this problem with the lower half of my body on butterfly. I can't get my butt to rise out of the water after a stroke, I feel as if I'm dragging my legs through the water. any suggestions?

  • a few thoughts: * crush the can (pretend a can is parallel to your body and when your arms are extended forward let them press under you - to crush the can) - keep it simple - got this from the great teacher technician tripp hedrick * once the can is mostly compacted, release and throw your arms around and forward - GIVE UP THE BACK END to release and recover rhythmically * angels in the snow (circle the arms around and to the front like angels in the snow) * exhale to inhale - as soon as you feel a little lift (forward really - not up) - as you begin to crush the can - exhale to quickly inhale so you can drop your head back into the water to let your arms (angel wings) fall forward into the water *notice the words "into the water" not just on the surface slip forward just below the surface * play with riding the line forward and just below the surface - eyes down
