FRUSTRATED..I can't find loyal swimming buddies!

I'm beyond bored swimming on my own. Even though I have started an adult (unofficial Master's) team at my local YMCA, there are MAX, 5 of us....and usually not all at once...Plus we only practice ONCE A WEEK, on Saturday mornings. It's kind of a joke! Where the heck do I live that I can't find a bunch of GOOD adult competitive swimmers to swim with...ones that want to do some serious workouts even during the week???????????? Sorry. Just venting!:rant3: If any of you live in Delaware, Maryland or even PA, COME SWIM WITH ME!!!!!!!!!!:wiggle:

  • I just love swimming on a team with a coach to push me. I stop too much on my own...I love the competitive feel to a team, or at least someone at my level to swim with occasionally. Oh well. I'll live, I guess...hehe. Or get the heck out of here and move to city that has a good Master's swim team, right? Where are you, btw? Do you swim with a Master's team now? Wow, Swimalison! Your situation literally mirrors mine - the YMCA, starting the team, once a week, etc. It sure is a challenge to swim on your own. On the other hand, the nice thing is that you can customize your workout to do what you want to do instead of conforming to somebody else's workout. Training is becoming more and more individualized. I used to train with a girl that was exactly the same age and swam the very same events in college. I actually started doing better after she moved away because our workouts were more like races instead of just a workout. I was leaving my races in the practice pool. When I did triathlons, I used an online coach and found this to be extremely helpful. I actually did much better training on my own and through the coach then training with a group. I'd get too competitive in the group and overtrain. Anyway, I don't know if any of this helps, but I can tell you I sure can relate!! :agree:
