I have been trying out different types of turn for back/*** during IM sets. I would like to know what kind of turn yall normally use. I am still trying to figure out which one works best for me.
Here are some clips of different types of turn:

I still feel most comfortable sticking with my old style: one hand touch the wall, one hand over head, then kick off the wall. Just wonder what your thoughts are!

There was a great discussion in general forum on this, started by "islandsox." Go look there, page 5 of postings (February?), for "transition between back/*** in IM" or something close. Lots of good interesting feedback and some good video.
Good luck.

I like the flip turn personally but you have to practice it A LOT because at the beginning it is really hard to do a full pullout...without running out of air

I used to do that a lot, and had several running-out-of-air experiences in the beginning. I plan to work on it more.
I am also beginning to work on the flip turn. The challenge for me will be to learn to do it with either hand. For now I am spending too much time setting up for the right hand.

I have to say that everyone of those doing the "flip" turn in a race looks like he's dying on the pulldown (they look rushed and don't appear to have great form (ie not enough streamline before the pull, head is coming up too fast, etc.). I wonder if you lose more time doing a non-flip and a strong pulldown or doing a flip turn and a crummy/rushed pulldown. Actually, the answer is obvious--if you're an Olympian (or train at that level), it probably makes sense to do the flip turn. It's probably a closer call for most mere mortals...
