Beginner to swim workouts.

Hello everyone. I am a 39 yr female who would like to swim to get back in shape. Next year our local swimteam will be opening a masters class and I plan to join. I was wondering if there were any basic beginners work out I could do now till the masters class starts sometime in the new year. I was a lifeguard and swim instructor in my teens/20's so I am familiar with all the strokes. Just overweight and have no idea what to do when im swimming laps to start getting conditioned. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Kim

    I am also a middle aged beginner, of sorts - I never swam seriously until this fall. I was panicking at the lingo - it seems a list of numbers that immediately require dividing by 25. Math was never a very fun subject for me! '200 is how many up-and-backs of the pool?' - that sort of thing. But I'm getting there. Good luck!
