Hello everyone. I am a 39 yr female who would like to swim to get back in shape. Next year our local swimteam will be opening a masters class and I plan to join. I was wondering if there were any basic beginners work out I could do now till the masters class starts sometime in the new year. I was a lifeguard and swim instructor in my teens/20's so I am familiar with all the strokes. Just overweight and have no idea what to do when im swimming laps to start getting conditioned. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Kim

I just got in the pool and did 1/4 mile for a week or so to get used to it again. Then went to 1/2 's; then up to 3/4 once; then out to 1 mile. I'm no expert but I found just getting the endurance back up gave me confidence to work on strokes and now looking at working out for a meet etc. I'm 37 so we're in the same ballpark for age. I'd just get swimming for now, so those smaller muscles thought they could hide behind the bigger ones forever get a chance to get used to working for a living again. :joker: Sorry it's not a workout but I hope you didn't object to some encouragement!
