I just enlisted in the Navy but I want to get my swimming skills back up to high school level. I was a distance swimmer.. it was only 2 years ago but I haven't been in the water since. Any ideas? I need help with workouts!

  • My son just finished basic at the RTC in Chicago (where you will go). Good luck. You need not worry about endurance, They will only test you for competance and fear of heights (jumping off a 3 meter tower). There is an advanced rating (an additional test) which requires knowledge of the strokes. My son never competed, but was a proficient swimmer, so passed the first test easily. The second test he tried but did not pass because he did not know Breaststroke well. Ask your recruiter about the tests, he should be able to tell you what to expect. They aren't a secret.
