hello to the lone star state!
I am a current travelling nurse from the midwest (indyswimfit) that is missing the pool.!!
I hear that there are LOTS of places to meet and swim with fellow masters but ALAS I have yet to find a one. I was hoping that someone could take pity on me and assist me in my endeavor. I currently live in an area called River Oaks, in houston. Thanks!!

Indyswimbag,
Are working at a hospital in Houston? My oldest brother works in the ER at Texas Children's. He isn't a swimmer though. Once, when I ws visitng him & my two sisters, I was trying to find a pool in the am. I got lost and couldn't get out of the circle I kept driving in. I stopped at a house and knocked onthe door to see if I could gst directions. the woman who answered was extremely nice.
sorry for the delay in response..
have no reliable computer.
I TOTALLY undertand the whole drive in circles thing because I spent the better part of my 1st 3days doing that!
As for the Post OAk Y....believe it or not I actually found that pool before reading your reply! great minds.....I am truly excited that it is an outdoor pool and that it is heated! Thanks for the name of the coach..I plan to look him up on the next day off...I was getting mighty tired of swimming by myself...i do have your info Karlene and once I get a little more sure of the driving I would love to have some company in the water...especially someone so ultra talented to push me! Thanks again guys and look for me at the fall classic.:)
I'm looking forward to swimming with you and can drive into town to swim as well. If you are interested in a warmup for the Fall Classic, there's a SCM meet on October 7th. Check out the Gulf LMSC website for meet info. Hope to see you soon.
Hi Bridget!
Glad to hear you made it to Houston. Your closest masters group will be at the Post Oak Y. The masters coach is Mark Hahn. Give them a call to find out workout times. Hopefully you still have my e-mail & phone so that we can hook up to swim. I'm about 30 minutes south of you in the Clear Lake area.
Mark is a great guy. I used to swim with him when I lived in Texas. If you have some bucks, The Houstonian is a phenomenal club to swim at. They just built a new pool 25M X 25Y. It is a great facility and Mark also coaches there.

My younger sister used to live near the Post Oak Y. That is where her first 2 children learned ot swim. It is a really good placwe. I've been there two different times when I was visiting. One tiem I had the entire pool to myself. the lifeguard said that rarely happens.

Hey Bridget,
Prehaps you should just come back to Indy where you are 'revered' and loved. Or is that 'tolerated' and loved. I always get those two words mixed up. Tell the others I am just kidding...Or am I.
By the way, I was saving up some b**** or breath sets just for you when you get to town. I am definitely not kidding there.
miss you.
Kris;)
OK COACH....
Long time no hear...what do you mean "revered"...last time I checked I was a little more known for my consistent...let's just say ramblings at practice. As for saving the b*tch or breath sets...well I have been following the practices as posted and even adding yardage! I will be coming back to INDY somwhere in the future so make sure that you keep the sets coming.
