My 10 year old daughter (and everyone on her team) has been tasked with designing a pre-meet workout for the team. I don't know if this is a mental excercise or if its serious. Can someone point me to a url or source of information for such a workout?
Age range: 8-14
5 x 2 hours workouts per week.
2500-3500 meters per workout except once a week they do stroke improvment.
They need to be able to do their workout in a pretty crowded lane, in a pretty crowded pool. Lots of 50's I think.

Apparently, the coach wanted to see what the swimmers thought a good warmup was and why.
We whipped something together last night.
200 Easy
2x50 Front Kick/Swim,
2x50 Back Kick/Swim
4x50 IM Order Drill/Swim
200 Free
4x50 Free Sprint
100 Easy
Apparently this was the longest/hardest of the bunch. At the other extreme was;
4x25 Free
2x100 IM
I am not sure what can be extracted from all this, but it was a fun excercise. The coach is going to discuss some of them at Dryland on Monday.
We are too critical of coaches he is probably asking them so he can get an idea of how the kids think, if he had asked me when I was ten I would have said wrap my legs with hot towels and have a warm shower. That is how I do a premeet warm up now.
