I am on a weight loss program, with a 46lb loss already. I have been exercising but would like to incorporate swimming into my routine as well. I have always enjoyed swimming and would eventually like to compete. Does anyone have any suggestions on where do start....I have been participating wkly in a water aerobics class but would like to incorporate lap swimming. Thanks for your help.

Congrats on your weight loss - that's fantastic and you should feel proud.
As to the swimming, just get into the pool and do it. You might only be able to do 50 or 100 yards at at the beginning, but that's a start. You will find yourself going longer and longer with less effort as the days pass. When you can do, let's say, 1000 yards or so easily, you might want to think about doing some interval workouts (I think somebody asked a question about interval training somewhere on this forum). If you want to compete, you will definitely want to do some interval training. But for now, just get in there and swim some laps.
Good luck to you. Given your start, I am sure you will do well.
