So we have a "swim rant" thread, but I wanted to post my "swim happy" moment today, probably brought on by being out of the water for over a week.
Pool reopened after maintenance + clear, fresh perfect temp water + 6 lap lanes between 4 lap swimmers = 4200yd :bliss:
Fairly new to the forums, but mostly a stalker. I love this thread. Just reading it makes me happy; thank you all! So last week I had an awesome practice after 5 days off for a conference. I've been working my tail off training for my first 5k (Ft Meyers next month). Came back and the last bit, coach had me do 3x100 at 85/90/100% on fins. My 85% felt great and ended up at 1:13 which is where I normally am at the end of practice at 100% on fins. Whoa. Felt easy and coach barked at me as if I went out too fast (a confused, not mean bark). 90% got me to 1:10. He shook his head again and I just laughed. "Make it in under 1:07!" he yelled. Sure enough at all out, I ended at 1:03. Surprised us both and we howled with laughter. I wouldn't have believed it had he not seen it too. Holy cow! It's definitely an outlier time, but I'll take it. Haven't seen that since high school! I've been floating on air for a few days because of this. I love my coach and am thrilled he's pushed me this far.
Last night a Lifeguard at the pool I was swimming at asked me if I could demonstrate the Dolphin Kick, and Butterfly to his swim lesson students. I believe I have improved if I am being asked to demonstrate the Butterfly to the swim lesson group. Hilarious, but it felt good, and I did it at the end of my 2 1/2 mile workout.
Swim Happy for the week: 50 mile cap finally came in the mail!!
Yeah....I got mine this week too. Good thing I just cleared 200 miles, and just got my 50 mile cap! :)
The lifeguards who weren't on active guard duty at the Rec today were busy festooning the aquatic director's office with plastic ducks. They must have had a hundred off them. Some were on the window ledges but they had also figured out how to hang them upside down from the ceiling panels. I think she may be in for a surprise tomorrow. :D
We have moved back to the outdoor pool. Swimming outside at noon is great!
We did the same starting last week. It was wonderful swimming outside mid-day, so that is my swim happy moment. :) The sunburn I got from neglecting to apply sunscreen, not so much. My back is now beet red; everything else is still pasty white.

My swim happy will be on May 1st when the HOA opens the outdoor pool and the noodlers have their classes outside. At that point, the indoor pool temperature gets reduced from 84 to 82 degrees for the summer; still to warm, but better than 84!
