Swim happy

So we have a "swim rant" thread, but I wanted to post my "swim happy" moment today, probably brought on by being out of the water for over a week. Pool reopened after maintenance + clear, fresh perfect temp water + 6 lap lanes between 4 lap swimmers = 4200yd :bliss:

  • Fairly new to the forums, but mostly a stalker. I love this thread. Just reading it makes me happy; thank you all! So last week I had an awesome practice after 5 days off for a conference. I've been working my tail off training for my first 5k (Ft Meyers next month). Came back and the last bit, coach had me do 3x100 at 85/90/100% on fins. My 85% felt great and ended up at 1:13 which is where I normally am at the end of practice at 100% on fins. Whoa. Felt easy and coach barked at me as if I went out too fast (a confused, not mean bark). 90% got me to 1:10. He shook his head again and I just laughed. "Make it in under 1:07!" he yelled. Sure enough at all out, I ended at 1:03. Surprised us both and we howled with laughter. I wouldn't have believed it had he not seen it too. Holy cow! It's definitely an outlier time, but I'll take it. Haven't seen that since high school! I've been floating on air for a few days because of this. I love my coach and am thrilled he's pushed me this far.
