Butterfly, beautiful to watch, difficult to train.
We SDK off every wall.
We're most likely to smack hands with each other and those beside us.
Fly's fun to sprint but no fun when the piano comes down

You are right about this. I do count my strokes--9 up and 12 back, which, I believe is correct for my time 31sec SCM. I also count them as well as my sdk in practice.
I just checked my heat of 100yd fly from Clovis nationals, the 40-44 age group.

I took about 10 SDKs of all walls and did 5/7/7/7 strokes. I was going pretty much full out the first 50 so I think the stroke count would be the same. Add one more stroke per lap for SCM.
I counted strokes for some of the rest of the heat (Shaffer, Varozza, Hochstein) who don't kick as much off the walls, they mostly did 6/8/8/8 strokes. Again, add 1 stroke for SCM and you get 7/9 for a 50. They are all, of course, very good butterflyers.
