hey wanted to know who is doing the race or has ever raced this location. Was wondering what the water conditions were like. If it gets choppy or is it calm. Any info would be great!!:)

I train in Morse just about every weekend in the summer. If it's windy it can get a bit choppy but it's pretty calm for the most part. I've only seen whitecaps once, and that was due to some very high winds.
I did a 5K there 2 summers ago and I train there from time to time. The water is usually smooth (unless extremely windy). The water is a little murky but it is a reservoir.
I'm doing the 10K and my biggest concern would be that it could be too warm (for me at least).
The course is an easy to follow double loop. I heard the finish is in the water.

Cause it only my second year. Hey if not hope to see you at big shoulders I am doing that race this year also. We can swim fast from anthing to scarry in the water toghether lol.

The scariest things at Big Shoulders are the other swimmers!
:)
Aurora, it's my impression there are several OW groups in Chicago. I'll try to keep an eye open for something that might work for you. Are you familiar with www.openwaterchicago.com? They do early morning swims from Ladder #1 at Oak St. Beach on weekends. You can swim anytime along the seawall at Ohio St. Beach.
Thanks vivi I found a trainer for the 10k Nat, he has group out by me.
so I am no longer the solo swimmer lol. Thanks for all your helpful info you have bee so sweet to me!! Thanks Aurora
We bought a team of 5 to swim 5x5K and watch the 25K swimmers 2 years ago. It was a great venue for 5K loop, well organized and I had a great swim, as did most of our team.
I highly recommend this 10K national championship event, as NASTI does a great job will all there events.

Hi aurora!
Yes I'm doing the 10K Championship race, at least I'm attempting it!
I will look forward to meeting you there. My master's team is hosting the race!
It will be a fun week-end. There will be a dinner Friday night, and probably a brunch and swim at the Forest Park Pool Sunday morning. The Nasti's put on a great ow swim but even better parties!
