It seems that FINA has not banned tech suits in open water swimming. It also seems that USMS has banned tech suits for their events following USA-S actions. So, does that mean that tech suits are banned from USMS sanctioned open water events or just pool events?
Still confused.
Okay, why would you want to wear a tech suit for an open water event? If we are speaking of the textile ones they seem to become waterlogged quickly and they all chafe a lot. I suppose a 1 k maybe but somehow the advantages of a tech suit in open water seem to just wash away. Maybe I just go too long so I miss the point?
For several reasons. I bought one for two reasons for the Swim Around Key West Race this past June and neither had to do with speed. First, I wanted more protection from the sun than just sunscreen. Second, I wanted protection from jellyfish and stinging cells floating in the water. A floating loose jellyfish tentical is just as dangerous as one connected to a jellyfish.
