Wasn't exactly thrilled to see the news about the Great Whites tagged off Chatham this past week given the Ptown Swim4Life this coming Saturday! Although they haven't cancelled it, so I guess I just have to swim faster than the guy next to me?!?!!? :bolt: www.cnn.com/.../index.html .

Those sharks were spotted something like 25 miles south of ptown. Unless you are swimming with the seals, I do not think you have much to worry about. Actually I saw one between N.Truro and P-town while kayaking on Sunday (9/13/09). The black fin was sticking out 8-10" above water just 30 feet in front to the right to my boat. I saw light grey body few inches under water, but not the hole fish - the sun was low, around 5 pm. You understand I did not want to get closer. I also saw pretty big splash in the same area a few days before just 200-300 feet away. I was late to spot who did it, but my wife saw it and thought it was small whale. It definitely was not, never surfaced again. But I did not argued otherwise she will never sit in kayak ever.
