lakes around here (southern NH and eatern Mass) now - mid-june are low to mid- 60's now. once you get the initial chill off with a few shake, rattle, rolls and air exchanges, it is really nice. some opt for suits but a wet suit is not needed at all. always wear a swim cap (white or yellow are ideal) that contrasts to the darker water tone so kyaks etc.. see you easier and sooner (for safety). later in the summer lakes typically warm up into 70's but only with extended hot days does it really get warm as in, it is nicer and easier to cruise when it still has a tiny chill in the water if you ask me. got to love open water.
