The first Laguana Del Tule Race in Melaque, Mexico takes place January 21 at 10 am. The race is a 1000m competition across the lagoon, with One Million Pesos in prize Money. There are 24 entries and it is said that Phelps and Hackett are entered. There are crocodiles in the lagoon but are not supposed to be a danger to humans. I will report the results in the morning after the race is completed.

One hour and a few minutes til the race starts. 22 swimmers are here ready to race, I have not seen Phelps or Hackett as yet I guess they are waiting for the last few minutes before the race starts. The crowd here is very excited and loud I estimate about 25,000 spectators. I have counted 14 crocodiles in the lagoon this morning they look as if they are waiting for the start also.

After talking with the swim experts here Pedro Hernadez a local swimmer is expected to come in third behind either Phelps or Hackett. He is very powerfully built and has very long arms, a very wide wingspan and huge feet he wears a size XXXL sandal looks about a size 16 shoe. I am sure his experience here at Laguna Del Tule will place him well.

If Phelps and Hackett don't show up they have asked me to fill in. I am considering it, I could use the $90,000 thousand US dollar prize to extend my holiday here. 33 minutes and the race starts.

Here we go, the gun goes off and only Pedro Hernadez is in the water. He is stroking very fast for such a big guy 115 strokes a minute. The crocs seem to be following him. Wow he better get going.

Pedro is really going fast 4 minutes out and he is 1 third the way across. The crocs are getting close to him he better pick up his pace. He was the only swimmer brave enough to get in the water.

He is at the finish and out of the water alive and waving at the crowd, He is giving an interview. He said thanks every one, thankyou to the sponsors and that he will use the money to train harder. They are asking what are you going to do now. I thought he was going to say "I'm going to go to Disney Land". In stead Pedro just said "I am heading back to the starting line and going to kick the S--t out of the guy who pushed me in."
