Woa! Noblesville, IN put on the BEST run OW I've ever attended. I can't think of one single issue that I had for the entire trip (other than I think I should have trained more). :rofl:I don't think I can blame anyone for that problem other than myself! Wonderfully well run. Thank you so much to ***, Marcia, all the wonderful volunteers, my AMAZING kayakers Hank and Allie, and all the NASTi volunteers. It was a huge event to host and pull off - and it was done perfectly! Can't wait for a big brunch tomorrow with the team and competitors! THANK YOU!!! I look forward to visiting again soon!
  • Glad to hear it went well! Hope you will feel up to posting gory details of the swim in a couple of days. :applaud: VB
  • It was a great race, even for those of us who only did one lap instead of five. :drown: There are two suggestions having to do with sighting (for the relay swimmers). 1) The lifeguard/police boats and the points of land helped, but bigger buoys would have been better. At the least, I'd suggest those silver mylar helium balloons tied to the buoys, would help water-level sighting. 2) One of the roving lifeguard kayaks had yellow oars. Station him on the side with the white buoys instead of the yellow side. :D

I loved it! Thank you so much to ***, Marcia and all the volunteers. I do think sighting was difficult for the relay swimmers - I got lost between #10 and 11 buoy! But this was so not important compared to the fun we had...I cannot wait until the next one.
  • See the top page of this site; the story and results just went up. Any results available for the 25K? Details? Pixies? Who kicked whom, desperate thoughts in the 4th hour, wildlife in the reservoir, getting lost/sightseeing, post-swim celebrations -- it sounds totally cool! VB
  • USMS National 25k Open Water Championship, plus 5 x 5k relay, July 19, Noblesville, IN: www.usms.org/longdist/ldnats08/25kentry.pdf About 16 miles? What is the name of the event? Might want to swim it myself.

  • Our relay team drove 8.5 hours from the greater Kansas City area to Noblesville for the event. We had a delightful trip across I-70, through St Louis and around the Indianapolis construction, but arrive safely and enjoyed our pasta dinner. Our relay team has a great experience - we were all happy with our 5K swims, and more delighted to hear we will get an award. We also extended our THANKS to the organizing committee, especially to *** Sidner, to all the volunteers, and to USMS Long Distance committee for awarding this event to Noblesville. We are looking forward to future event by the NASTI group and returning to Morse Reservior for more open water swims ! I did the swim too and loved it! So glad I did it. The 5th lap was the toughest for me, but I made myself complete it. The water and air temps were perfect for me. I was able to adjust to the time zone, which was good. The race started at 1am my time. :) I wasn't the happiest with my training, but just happy to finish. Wondering if I will do it again? Recovery has been hard. I also want to extend my thanks as well. It was amazing what all people did and it is SO appreciated!
