National 10k?

In looking at the results of the National 10k, it seems like the times are considerably slower than what would be expected. Any info on what happened? Rough conditions? Long course? Currents? -LBJ

  • Julie - I actually meant the USMS 10k, but thanks for the link. It was a really good video. Oh, I can tell you all about that also. I was there and it took me WAY longer than I had anticipated. We were fighting an awful tide for a lot of the race and barely making any forward progress at times. Even when I got done the bay looked very calm, the same way it had in the morning, but there definitely was something going on with that water. I never felt like it was choppy, just that I was using every bit of energy I had and still swimming in place. This was my first 10K so I have no idea what my time should be, but it definitely shouldn't be 36 min/miles!
