OK all jokes about growing an extra limb or coming out cooked. Will I have to worry about the water in the Hudson north of the Tappan Zee Bridge?
Do any OW swimmer take any meds to prevent any sicknesses. I don't plan to drink the water...

I don't know the area you mentioned, but I had a bad lake swim. It was a high use lake and the smell/taste of fuel oil gave me dry heaves.
I now stick to large bodies of water (Gulf of Mexico or Atlantic Ocean).
As to taking meds, never had to. You're going to drink a little, can't be helped, you get used to it--even salt water.
OK..I can hack it sarge... hehe
Oddly that was the hardest part of doing the mile in the briny the other week...the taste of salt...I'm just going to try not to disturb the river bed.
I just thought of the river bed... I hate the feeling of silt between my toes..brrrrr...I hope it's rocky....
