Thought I'd spill the beans on my friend Rendy Lynn Opdyke's swim this weekend. She was the first recorded woman to swim from Santa Cruz Island to the mainland and the fastest to make the longer 28+ mile crossing finishing in 10:51! Thats some serious swimming! I'm sure the rest of the story will be up at santabarbarachannelswim.org soon. There is an increasing interest in the cold & rough channel this year!
Are you planning another MIMS anytime soon?I would love to swim the MIMS again, it is a great event. However, life has a way of getting in the way of my marathon swimming training. But maybe in a few years, I’ll get back in distance shape and do it again.
