Thought I'd spill the beans on my friend Rendy Lynn Opdyke's swim this weekend. She was the first recorded woman to swim from Santa Cruz Island to the mainland and the fastest to make the longer 28+ mile crossing finishing in 10:51! Thats some serious swimming! I'm sure the rest of the story will be up at santabarbarachannelswim.org soon. There is an increasing interest in the cold & rough channel this year!

  • Tobie and Tammy are phenomenal marathon swimmers. And it didn’t hurt that in 1999 we had great conditions for the race. Whoa, 3rd overall, Rob! That's pretty strong swimming! Some cheers also for our overly modest admin! :cheerleader: Hey Rob, sorry I somehow missed that the first time around... was looking for this year's results, so my one-track mind (with trains coming in both directions, ha!) slid over what was on the screen. But awesome race! Are you planning another MIMS anytime soon?
