Swimmin in rain

Does anyone else like swimming open water in heavy rain (when safe from lightning & sewage)? Somehow, just the thought of not trying to stay dry, etc.

  • We do it all winter, swimming that is, in Oakland, outside, in the dark at 6 AM, or 6:30 PM. 80º in the water, somewhere between 25º and 60º on deck. In downpours and hail storms, but we do get out for lightning (winter is thunderstorm time in the SF Bay area, but only rarely), and bathroom breaks. My favorite thing to do in the water when it's really raining is to put on my fins and kick on my back under water to watch those little raindrops rip through the surface, it's so cool. See Ya Brian PS if your in Oakland this winter look us up!
