Hit 500k yds yesterday

On advice of a friend I started tracking my year to date yardage this year as a motivator to get the pool as often as possible, and to try to hit 1 million yards for the year. I've never done this in the 35 or so years I've been swimming but so far its been working pretty good; I'm 2 weeks ahead of schedule. anyone else keep track of their yardage through out the year?

  • I am going to hijack this thread. :hijack: Your comment indicates that you don't feel a membership in USMS is "worthwhile" unless you compete in meets. We hear this comment a lot and are trying to add value to our memberships for those who don't compete in meets. One of our current benefits is your own online fitness log (FLOG) and the ability to include your FLOG totals in the Go The Distance program. You indicated that you are tracking your yardage on your own. If you were tracking it through the Go The Distance program you would have already won a swim cap (50 miles), a $5.00 gift certificate (100 miles), and a mesh bag (250 miles). Other current member benefits include: Access to daily, written workouts created by four USMS coaches A subscription to SWIMMER magazine Subscriptions to two monthly e-newsletters (one for members, another for coaches) What other benefits could we offer that would make you consider rejoining USMS? That's a good question. Obviously the cost isn't prohibitive, I think its more that masters swimming has pretty much vanished from my area. Its really just 2 friends and I (who both are USMS members curiously enough!) that get together and swim 5 to 7 times a week. I'm basically in a point in my life where other than a regular work out in the early morning hours, I have no time (3 kids, all doing their own sports) to dedicate to swimming
