Hit 500k yds yesterday

On advice of a friend I started tracking my year to date yardage this year as a motivator to get the pool as often as possible, and to try to hit 1 million yards for the year. I've never done this in the 35 or so years I've been swimming but so far its been working pretty good; I'm 2 weeks ahead of schedule. anyone else keep track of their yardage through out the year?

  • Definitely get on Go the Distance if you aren't already. Kind of a convenient way to track your workouts and you don't have to convert meters to yards to miles... or whatever. And you get cool stuff with Nike logos on it so you can pretend you are sponsored and impress all your friends. I'm at 263 miles which is a little under 500,000. My "goal" is 500 miles mainly because that is the distance where I get a free swimsuit... and the next freebie is at 1000 miles which isn't happening this year. Since I didn't start tracking until late January, I'm probably a good bit further along and should have no trouble with 500. 1,000,000 yards might be tougher. Could be a good goal to shoot for.
