Janet Evans was and is a force of nature. I've written it here before, but I believe her 800 and 1500 LCM WRs are the gold standard, yet to be beaten in a regular swimsuit. Her 800 record was finally bested by 2.12 seconds, or .1325 seconds per length. Her 1500 was bested by 9.56 seconds, or .3186 seconds per length. Both times wearing supersuits. Until someone beats her records in a conventional swimsuit, IMO Janet Evans remains the greatest women's distance swimmer ever, with performances unexcelled after more than 20 years. Which in modern swimming is an eternity and a half. BTW, guys, why don't women compete the 1500 at the Olympics? And why have the distance performances leveled off in general? Grant's 1500 LCM WR is a decade old.
