Hello everyone, New to to the forum. I'll thought I'll register here as it seems to be the most active. Right, I have a question about breathing techniques whilst wearing a nose clip. I've been swimming for quite some time now and every time I finish swimming I always get a blocked nose caused by the chlorine in the water. Also known as swimmers sinusitis. It seems this is quite common among regular swimmers. I've did some research and found one common method to prevent swimmers sinusitis is to wear a nose clip. So I got me one of these www.torontocoin.com/NIKESwimNoseClip.jpg So what I would like to know when wearing a nose clip. Do you breathe out of your mouth? Or out of your nose? When I perform front crawl with a nose clip I find I can inhale and exhale out of my mouth pretty easily with no water entering my nose whilst wearing a nose clip. However... When I perform a *** stoke I find I have to exhale out for the nose clip because when I try to exhale through my month the bubbles shoot up to my nose. The only way to stop water entering my nose is if I exhale through my nose clip but I am not sure if this is right? Generally speaking with and without a nose clip what is the proper technique when exhaling and inhaling? Is it inhale through mouth and exhale through nose? Thanks for your replies.
