ARE you going?
What suit are you going to rock in your races? TIPS
One of the masters swimmers I train with went to Auburn,
this morning I asked him
"How do you get to Auburn?"
He said fly into Atlanta then drive 2 hours to Auburn.
He added if you do this, one thing you want to be aware of is
Atlanta is on Eastern Time & Auburn is on Central time
so when you drive from:
Atlanta to Auburn you subtract an hour &
Auburn to Atlanta you add an hour.
TSA won't let you take all that Gatorade through security so you should plan on buying it on site :bolt:I wouldn't worry so much about the TSA catching you with it as I would the Auburn Campus police finding it. If you really want Gator-ade, plan on smuggling it across the Florida border.
Drive to Auburn from Atl airport is just over an hour (not two)
And exactly what wormhole are you using to travel the 100 miles????

When I drove to Atlanta for the first time I found that they do drive 95+ mph on the interstate during moderate traffic through town. It almost reminded me of Germany, and I was impressed with the common rules of the road attitude.

That's why I like powdered drinks - then I can mix them up once I arrive. But my favorite (XOOD) is going out of business...
The Atl airport is on the south side of town so you're only likely to hit afternoon rush, not morning rush. I've been driving to Auburn for meets now for 4 years and unless there is construction (which I believe is now complete) then it's a very easy drive, at 75 - nothing supersonic. Plus you get an hour back because of the time change (I guess that's the wormhole)?
My understanding: The current set up is to start from the bulkhead located at the diving pool end. There are rails on the bulkhead at the level where the gutter would be. The far end toward the warmup pool has a tile wall and gutter. Colorado timing system pads are used. That is how the pool was set Friday night.
Anyone know whether the walls will have tall FINA pads or have gutters?
As I recall there was not a gutter at the blocks... but it has been a while since I was there.
I did find this bit here:
"The 50-meter competition pool features eight, 9-foot-wide lanes with water depths ranging from 9 to 10.5 feet. Gutters surrounding the pool were engineered to minimize turbulence, while bulkheads featuring a flow-through design reduce wave rebound on turns."
This pool has a reputation for being very fast... you should get some very good times.
I went to a SCY Invitational there in 2005. It was my worst meet ever in terms of points, but I had the most enjoyable time there of any meet I've ever been to. It was very exciting to be among so many good swimmers, and I had a great time with my teammates.
:)
Good luck to all heading to Auburn: travel safely, swim fast, have fun and clear the roadways for Kurt Dickson to zoom out of there after his 400 ;)
Ditto from me! I'll be following the results and doing a preliminary check on possible competitors for next Spring in Greensboro.
